Rongai route is one of unpopular routes up Kilimanjaro, the route is well known for its beautiful scenes than Marangu route, much easier than the Machame route and the rate for a successful climb is very high. The route is on the northern side of the mountain near the Kenyan border and offers great views of the Kenyan savannah and rugged Mawenzi.
Most climbers choose to use 6 days to climb but we do recommend 7 days. An additional day for acclimatization is a key to a successful climb on this mountain. However for well experienced and very fit mountain hikers, the 6 days climb is also suitable. For 6 days climb skip the acclimatization day and hike all the way up from Kikelewa (3600m) cave to Kibo Hut (4700m).
Below is a sample itinerary, note that all our programs are flexible and tailored to the individual groups so please let us know if you would like to make any changes. Our climbing team will meet you the day before your climb for a full briefing of your upcoming ascent & descent, including a final check to all your equipments and to any questions you have will be answered.
