Many people say that this is the most beautiful route up Mt. Kilimanjaro. It is particularly varied in landscape and offers great views of Mount Meru and the Kibo. This route is often referred as the “whiskey route” it is mostly preferred by adventurous hikers.  Unlike Marangu route accommodation here is at camping sites in tents. Where your mountain crew will have everything set up for you.

You can choose between 6 and 7 days Machame route. We recommend you to do 7 days because an additional day for acclimatization is the key to a successful climb up to the summit. For well experienced and fit climbers the 6 day climb is also suitable. If you choose to do 6 days, you will not spend the night at karanga camp on day 4. You will go on to the barafu camp (the base camp) and spend a few hours there, before you will start to go up to the summit at around midnight.

Below is a sample itinerary, note that all our programs are flexible and tailored to the individual groups so please let us know if you would like to make any changes. Our climbing team will meet you the day before your climb for a full briefing of your upcoming ascent & descent, including a final check to all your equipments and to any questions you have will be answered.
